Boss ME70 Guitar Multi Effects Processor Case Power Supply strings Cables Review

Just received this product today, and spent several hours putting it through its paces. It's basically a collection of BOSS's best stompboxes, packaged with some convincing and varied amp/cab models. The "Manual" mode, where you simply use the 4 footswitches as individual stomps, is my favorite. The "pedals" are authentic-sounding, and each has more separate sounds than I'll ever need. You can also choose to either use the amp models while in "Manual" mode, or select the "EQ" (a 4-band parametric eq) setting, or simply turn off the COSM modeling/eq section altogether.
The "Memory" mode consists of 9 preset banks with 4 patches each. Surprisingly, many of the factory presets were usable with very little tweaking. This mode also has 9 further "User" banks of 4 patches each, for a total of 72. Here, you can save your own sounds, whether they be modified versions of the factory presets or something of your own devising. Also has an "EZ Tone" button to give you a basic, usable sound from each effect as you select it, sort of a starting point for getting what you want.
The expression pedal is solid but with fluid action, although stepping on it hard enough to activate the "Wah" (you have to toe-down on it with some weight in order to switch from basic volume control) was a little more difficult than I would like. BUT! That is easily changed as well, as outlined in the manual -- which is surprisingly clear and concise. The sound of the wah was actually acceptable, unlike some other multi-effects I've owned. Not a vintage Crybaby, by any means, but usable.
Editing and storing patches is fairly intuitive, once you've run through the process a couple of times, but I would recommend keeping the manual close at hand for the first few tries at it.
Overall, a great, sturdy, very good-sounding product. Loved this package deal as well-- the ME-70 does not come with power supply included, so having it (and the nice little padded bag) included in the deal was pretty sweet. As to the bag, it seems sturdy enough, and is fairly well-padded. The front pocket is just about the right size for your power supply and not much else.
The cables included with this deal I have not yet tried. 15 foot "Made In China" cables, they seem decent enough for light duty.
Strings were D'Addario .09-,42, which is what I use anyway.
