Amazing how a new set of strings will totally change the tone of your bass. I had been looking for some strings that would give me that classic Fender "growl" without chewing up my fingers (and frets) like classic round wound strings seem to do. Finally found them with the DR Nickel Lo-Riders.

Based on research I did on the TalkBass forums, I took a stab and ordered these. What a difference over the Elixir Nanowebs I had! Although not as slick as the Elixir, these strings are still smoother than round wound, and they deliver a great low end with punchy mids and highs.

I play a Squire Vintage Modified Jazz bass, and I think I just found my new go-to strings!
