I recently got the G3 with some worries going into it because I found it very hard to find that many good demos and reviews of it outside of amazon. The device arrived and once I got it all going and took a self guided tour, I have been worry free and very happy with it.

I was drawn to the G3 because it functions as 3 seperate effects pedals and my previous multi effects pedal was just preset patches that I could scroll through but had a horrible time editing (RP-90).

The G3 functions like this: You have 100 patch slots, each patch can hold 3 effects. The effects can be turned on and off and adjusted with individual foot switches and knobs. If you make an adjustment to the effect, the patch is automatically updated to the way you left it, even if you change the effect altogether. You can then procede to cycle through your patchs and enable/disable the individual triad of effects.

When the G3 arrives, the factory presets are very diverse and randomly organized. Scrolling through you hit rock, to clean, to hellraiser harsh, to bombs, to crazy effects. I liked a lot of them but won't use half of them. I set up the software right away (recommended) and dragged all the factory default preset patchs to the computer. I then wiped my G3 so I had 100 empty patches. I then dragged only the preset patches that I liked from the computer back to the G3 in the order I wanted. This is when the G3 and me started seeing eye to eye. I love how easy it is to orgainize your patches. The software makes this incredible. It is interesting to note that when you have the G3 hooked up to your amp, guitar, and computer, as you do things on your computer, they go live on your G3 instantly. So you can drag and drop the presets on your computer while demoing them with your guitar and amp. I found this very favorable.

A major selling feature for the G3 was my interest in buying a lot of effects pedals but not spending a lot of money. The built in stomp box effects if purchased as seperate pedals would cost imensely more than the G3. I could rationalize buying a compressor or nose gate, or phasor knowing that I may not use it all the time, or even like it once I added it to my set up. The G3 lets you try out these effects without you having to commit to buying the pricy pedal.

Issues I have had:
It makes things loud. I have it set up as described in the manual, but there are presets that even when my amp is at 2, are insanely loud. I end up lowering a lot of gains and levels in the presets. I am hoping that I find a way to use the global settings to fix this, but it does not seem to be possible. Some effects are not familiar to me either, so I can't tell if they are pegging my system or meant to sound that way (such as slicer or broken).
I have also not been very good at using the looper. I can't get a seemless loop. I was hoping to use the looper to repeat a chord progression so that I could play lead on top of it, but I simply can't get it to be seemless (my fault I'm sure). I thought perhaps it would blend the edges of the loop together to make it more seemless, but it does not.

Overall, the effects sound very solid with warm tone (those that I lean towards). I am very eager to construct more presets and browse the online communities for other peoples creations.

I would recommend this pedal to anyone that is considering buying individual stomp boxes, is unsure what effects they will use or like, doesn't like how multieffect pedals are hard to tweek on the fly, enjoys the idea of using their computer to edit effects, and wants to do computer recordings.
