Installed 4 Celestion Vintage 30 speakers in a Marshall mini cab (Valvestate series) which orignally had G12L-35's speakers in it. The V30's definately sound better. Thighter and louder bass, although they do fart out quite easily if you want a lot of bass at high volume. The midrange is smooth and not muddy like the previous speakers, but not scooped. There is a slight cut in the treble which controls amp fizz quite well. They are naturally voiced with a flat EQ response meaning that neither the bass, midrange or treble overpower each other. I use the V30's with a Peavey 5150 amp and the types of tones I get are similar to Machine Head, Fear Factory, Soilwork etc. Overall, the V30 is quite a reasonable speaker, it forms one piece of the puzzel to getting the right tone. How it sounds for you will also depend on your amp and equalizer settings. I would consider combining two V30's and two G12T75s to add treble, or G12k 100's for tighter bass at high volume. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Celestion Vintage 30 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm" are high quality item.
