I've been playing guitar for 15 years now, and I've had a few different amps and heaps of stomp boxes over the years. Nothing will ever replace a real amp, or analogue stomp boxes, and I'm not claiming this little gadget will. So here's my situation and my impression of the Line 6 Pod 2.0:

I live in an apartment. My amps are long since gone (needed the money, so I sold them) but I really wanted something to plug into. Buying an amp really wasn't an option, unless I also wanted to find a new place to stay. I worked at Guitar Center years back and I remembered toying with these during the down time. So I picked one up a few months ago. I've been running it through my stereo system, and for what I do with it, I really can't complain.

The various amp models are all decent. You're not going to get a true Boogie or Marshall stack sound out of this. It does well enough so you can tell what it's emulating, but that's it. The special effects are nice. Simple to use and very functional. I really like all the knobs it has on it, as it allows you to sculpt your tone.

You'll hear some people complain about this. "It sounds sterile" or "That's not what a Vox sounds like..." Well, they're not wrong, but anyone looking for a pure sound out of a $200 digital device can't be that bright. The Pod gets the idea across, and it does a good job doing so.

I recommend the Line 6 Pod if:
*You live in an apartment and you can't have a real amp without getting evicted
*You live with other people and jam it out at night or when other people need quiet
*You're trying to record music and you want a variety of amp sounds and don't have a lot of money
*You enjoy like gadgets with lots of knobs and tons of different sounds to experiment with

I purchased this to replace a Morley ABY. I've had the Morley for a while and had several issues with it; buttons not activating, noise on the channels, signal quality loss, etc. The Radial resolved all of them.

Sturdy unit, buttons work great, signal quality is even. The ISO feature resolved the noise issues I had been having (splitting a signal at the guitar for direct and amp for recording options). Overall, very happy with the product.

Planet Waves Beatles Guitar Strap, Yellow Submarine Review

Very nice looking guitar strap, but the material it's made out of is unacceptable, especially considering it's price. It is a vinyl type material which will never age, and worse, it stretches. I always connect my guitar straps very securely using a large washer over each end of the strap so it cannot come off. One end of this strap is the narrower adustable piece that you see on a lot of straps. The narrow part of the strap easily stretched over the 1.5" washer and popped off, almost destroying my martin. I had to discard the narrow piece and replace it with one I took off one of my old straps, so the strap is usable now, looks good, but again will never age and get that great look. They've given it a somewhat aged look which is ok, but I don't think it'll ever get "broke in". Also, there is a note in the package that warns you not to let the strap contact your guitar's laquer finish or it could harm it. What kind of nonsense is that? All in all pretty disappointed.

What this unit is: a fun piece of kit that you can use to mess around with and effect audio. What it's not: a serious piece of DJ performance kit.

First, the fun. It's good for real time tweaking. It sounds great. It's easy to get started with the unit and get some cool sounds quickly. Having four independent effects is fun, and can be a little more creative than just using presets.

Why it's not a serious piece of DJ Kit. No sampler. No Midi. No ability to save settings. Plastic build. BPM Detect is questionable. Some of the FX groupings seem arbitrary, and it would be nice to assign effects to banks so you could have more flexibility.

Conclusion: It's fun. If you've got $300 to spend on adding some highly tweakable, easy to apply effects to your audio, this could be a good purchase. If you're looking for a serious piece of kit that you can build repeatable sets from, you may want to look elsewhere (say, maybe a KP3).

MONO M80 M80-EB-BLK Bass Guitar Case - Black Review

At this point I assume you're familiar with the specs so I'll go directly to my impressions...

This Mono case is crazy expensive but after lots of research I decided that this is the case I wanted protecting my multi-thousand dollar basses. Now that I've been using it for several months I'm very happy with my decision. I have a couple of other gig bags that I've used in the past and they're okay for keeping my basses protected in my studio but when I'm leaving the house and putting my babies at risk I always go for the Mono.

Pros:

Protection. The ABS inserts, padding and other features seriously protect your investment.

Neck block. As the name implies it holds the neck firmly and protects it from shock.

Style. It looks cool. I've had quite a few double-takes and comments since I started carrying the Mono.

Storage. While it's not got a huge volume (see below) it does have numerous pockets and straps to hold cords and accessories. Nice

Cons.

Shoulder Straps. The straps on this case are of such a design and length that even at it's lowest settings the bass rides significantly higher on my shoulders than other cases. When I use the Mono I tend to bump into overhead light fixtures and door frames. I'm 6 foot 4 so this may not be an issue for you but I find it annoying.

Storage. As noted above there are lots of pockets and straps but the total volume of storage is just a little less than I would like. If it had just a tad more I would be able to travel to and from gigs with no more than this bag. As it is I have to care another small bag for the few pedals that won't quite fit in the Mono.

Price. It seems like you either pay 20 bucks for a crappy gig bag or a couple hundred for a nice one. There's really not much in between. This bag is nice but I don't know that it's ten times nicer than a standard bag.

Conclusion

Now the magic question - would I buy it again? Yes I would but I must say if somebody comes out with a $99 semi-solid bag Mono would have some competition.

I have a late 90's Carvin SC90 W/ humbuckers & 2 coil splitting switches. It's a beautifully made guitar. Solid mahogany body w/ flame maple top. I hated the way it sounded. The pick ups(pups) are C-22's which are Carvin OEM. I decided to give the guitar one more chance before I got rid of it. I was going to install a Seymour Duncan JB & a '59 like I did with my Les Paul. As I was browsing on Amazon I found the Hot Rod Special (Seymour Duncan JB & Jazz). I went to the Seymour Duncan web site & listened to what the Jazz sounded like. Sounded good to me, so I placed the order with Amazon.

I received the pups in 3 days. I had never rewired a guitar before, but got through it with no problems. The guitar is now a screamer. It sounds a lot like my Les Paul only a little hotter. The split coil settings give it a Tele type sound. With the Jazz in the neck position I get a very cool single coil sound that is great for chords & a crunch type setting on my amp (Rivera).

I don't think I could have made a better choice. Remember, there is only one thing that translates what you play & that the pups. If they suck so does your sound.
