Planet Waves Alchemy Guitar Strap, Muted Skulls Review

A really soft but durable fabric, it is almost padded. Very comfortable, you can't even fell the plastic length adjustment.

The finish of the borders is also really nice, I have used low quality straps that gets your neck and shoulders itchy after a few minutes, but I haven't have that problem with this one.

The paint seems durable, is not like those paints that dries out and falls in crumbles, and the design is wicked.

A good quality, tick leather at the end of the strap for holding the guitar. If you take care of it keeping it moist with polish or something alike, you will have a durable strap.

Only downside I can think, is that it doesn't have like a safety device for the hold, some other straps from planetwaves do come with it, but I guess you get what you pay for, and all the features that this straps has for less than $20 is a great deal.

The MOD Reverb Tanks are high quality upgrade units. Some of the major differences between the MODs and other reverb tanks are that the Transducers are wired directly to their respective RCA jacks as opposed to current production tanks where Transducers are connected by a detachable plug to their respective RCA jacks. This makes the tanks less receptive to any outside interference. The original Hammond Accutronics tanks from the 1960's were also wired directly to their respective RCA jacks. In addition very close attention has been paid to the spacing and size of the lamination of the Transducers resulting in a more vintage like tone.

I was going to rid myself of my 2011 Blues Jr. III with its sporadic reverb issue. Based on some research I ordered this reverb tank and thus far, it is working flawlessly. A dramatic improvement for me. Much warmer. The original sounded thin and couldn't be used after about a level 4. If you own a blues jr. III, buy this tank. Low investment, high reward. Better quality and more usable throughout its range.

Dava Control Pick - 5 picks Review

D'Addario EXL160-5 5-String Nickel Wound Bass Guitar Strings, Medium, 50-135, Long Scale Review

I have been playing bass for about a year and a half now. These strings are the best I have ever used. I've had Earnie Ball Slinky's, GHS Boomers, Elixr (all of which are pretty dang good), and a few I forgot the names of, but these kick their butts. They have an amazing punch and clarity. I use them with an Ibanez Sr-405 series bass and they work perfectly with the active electronics. I mostly play experimental metal in the chicago area, and also some old school thrash. Just overall love these strings. Be careful, they can grind up your picks pretty fast haha.

Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi (USA) Review

If your a tone junkie like myself, this pedal is not very versatile. Nevertheless, it is one of the best at what it does, and what it does is hard to find in another pedal.

What it does: Easy to adjust and blend with any set-up. I agree with other reviewers in that it will give you perfect tone for white stripes, and sustain that is necessary for solos from Gilmour (note that this is only one of many pedals used by gilmour, so this alone will not provide the floyd sound). The tone also matches 60's and 70's hard rock like black sabbath (iron man), some deep purple (smoke on the water), some early rush (working man), and of course the smashing pumpkins sound all the way (this was one of their primary pedals, cherub rock sounds awesome). Adjust the tone on the pedal to find perfect AC/DC. Basically, the tone allows you to adjust the harmonics to include some of the high end notes in chords. Thus it is a great pedal to provide fuzz without losing the higher end notes, so great for chording. The sustain knob in incredible. I will never need any more sustain than this pedal provides as I couldn't imagine writing or playing a solo where a note rings for more than 3 or 4 measures. As always though, good tone is subjective so I would highly recommend playing through one before buying. Finally, from what I understand and hear myself, this pedal has a true bypass...meaning it will not affect the guitar's natural tone when pedal is turned off.

What it does not do: Just about everything else you would want your guitar to do, especially if your a tone junkie. and some people may differ on me with this, but I wouldn't recommend super-heavy metal through this...maybe could handle some on the lighter end of this genre.

PS- I play fender strat, ibanez, and les paul through fender deluxe tube amp.

MXR Dyna Comp Effects Pedal Review

This was the first pedal I ever bought. In retrospect, maybe I should have bought a fuzz box first, but that's my fault, not the box's. This box doesn't make your sound get fuzzy, pulse or turn somersaults, but that's by design.
For those of you who haven't used a compressor, it makes softer sounds louder and louder sounds softer by reducing (aka "compressing") the dynamic range of the instrument. At less extreme settings, it adds some sustain and a bit of extra attack that helps to cut through the live mix. If you set the compression too high, however, you will end up with no soft or loud passages at all-everything is the same volume, even finger and pick noise.
I like to use this pedal for a clean solo boost and to keep some definition when using other effects. I set this pedal up before the fuzz boxes and wah pedals, put in a little compression (I set the Sensitivity to 10 o'clock or so) and set the output to match my uneffected volume. This gives me a little more attack and sustain and adds a brightness that works well with the other boxes. If I really want to get a clicky, percussive, clean 80's new wave sound, I turn the Sensitivity knob up just past 12 o'clock and I sound like I'm in the Cars.
