It is true; these strings aren't as bright as a set of EJ 16s. However, I hate to see them written off as inferior. I have used these for some time now and liked them so much I put them on all my acoustics. The way they reduce string noise is nothing short of wonderful. There are ways to get a brighter sound. If you use a pick, use a lighter one. If finger picking, use more nail than flesh. I'll admit these strings may not be for everyone, but then neither are EJ 16s.
