TC Electronic Flashback X4 Delay and Looper Review

Sold my original Flashback delay to buy this and couldn't be happier! Having 3 presets is fantastic and the sound this thing puts out is even better! Every delay mode is exceptional. The analog mode is VERY close to the MXR Carbon Copy (more on that later). The ability to add the Toneprints is also great! Check out the 'Energy' Toneprint by (I forgot who, but it's the only one called that). I'm powering with my DC Brick without any problems.

I wouldn't even call these cons, but here is the only area TC could improve: Once you store a preset, and then create another delay type/sound, you have no way of knowing where your knobs where set for that original preset (unless you remember). It would be nice if the respective knob light would light up once its 'home' position is reached for that particular preset. I'm just happy to have delay presets without having an FX processor.

The size is just barely over 9 inches wide by about 5 inches high. That said, it's still smaller than other pedals in its class.

Now back to the MXR Carbon Copy: I have a CC too and planned to sell it along with my original Flashback when I bought the X4. I couldn't do it. While very close, I just couldn't part with the sound of the CC. That said, I can't imagine giving up either the CC or the X4.

It should also be mentioned that the presets are in fact a 'true' preset. If you alter any knob or change the tempo switch on a different setting, you're original preset you saved will be recalled regardless of any knob or switch position.
