I just bought a 2013 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus through the mail. On arrival, one of the top hat knobs was busted. Not enough to warrant returning the guitar, but enough of a distraction to want to fix it.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. I went to Guitar Center to see about getting these knobs. Well, forgot about it, I was told this was an issue that would involved calling up Gibson to determine exactly what the parts number were to these knobs and then hope they were in stock. Then pre-pay and hope they show up within the next 2 to 4 weeks. Went to another guitar shop here in Dallas and got the same story. Driving back home, I wondered if by chance, I could find them on Amazon. Imagine my surprise and joy to discover the same exact knobs I need at a price that beats the crap out of the local shops.

My lesson? Well, no matter what it is, give Amazon a chance to see if they have it listed. I mean, doesn't take any real time to search for it.

My new baby is back to her glory with the new knobs and I can play without having to be bothered by that cracked knob.
