Product Description

Spider IV 75 guitar amp from amp-modeling pioneers Line 6 redefines what is sonically possible from a modeling amplifier. An incredible amount of care, passion and attention to detail went into recreating the authentic characteristics and tonal nuances made famous by the modeled amplifiers. Experience exceptional depth and sophisticated touch response. Discover complex distortions that jump from the speaker and the valve-style compression that breathes like it’s emanating from a vintage tube amp while supporting and sustaining each note.

Line 6 Spider IV 75 75-watt 1x12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier Review

I started two years ago with a 15 watt Spider III, then along with other amps, bought a Spider Jam. I thought they were all great. Now they come out with Spider IV, and the difference in the sound is dramatic. They are getting very, very close to tube sound. So much so that for the lousy $299, compared to say $1000+ for 75 watts of tube, this is a real steal.
Loaded with features, and hundreds of presets, it has something for everyone. The Pitch Shifter and 18 available manual settings just add to the fun. And it will work with either generation of FBV pedalboard. Says so right in the manual. The only difference I see is with the generation II pedal you get a USB port.
Does it sound as creamy and smooth as my Peavey Delta Blues or Crate Palomino tube units? No, there is still a little digital overlay around in there. But most people who are looking for a great home based amp, or maybe a church or small gig amp, this is a WINNER and the price is just nuts. Forget the Peavy Vyper, this is hands down much better and you don't have to sink another couple hundred in a pedal to get to all the presets like the Vyper.

Fender Accessories 099-0818-300 F' Straplock Electric Guitar Strap - Chrome Review

I read a review for this product that says that these are "too big". I disagree wholeheartedly, unless you're planning on putting them on a mandolin or a Mickey Mouse guitar... I dunno.

Diameter is 1" and height is about 1.125", so judge for yourself. I have a Fender with chrome hardware, rosewood fretboard, white scratch plate, and sunburst body... it seems to look right on mine.

I think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder on this one, because on my Fender jazz bass these chrome locks look "pretty freakin' sweet".

I was looking for something that matched my guitar both in branding logo and in the color of the metallic finish--these were a perfect fit.

I know that Fender makes another set of strap locks, but I liked how this set REALLY locks the strap onto the pegs. I don't know the technical term for what these are, but they're spring-loaded and have retracting ball bearings that lock into place onto the pegs seen in the picture. The pegs in this set replace the stock pegs. I highly recommend using the hardware that they give you with the new set instead of reusing the stock screws. The screws that come with the stock strap pegs have an extra bit of screw length to accommodate for the thickness of the strap peg itself and the new screws do not have this extra length. The threading on the new screws is exactly the same as the stock screws, so if you start threading it back in with thumb/forefinger power, you shouldn't have any problem with stripping the original screw hole. If you use your stock screws with this upgraded set of pegs, you will very likely screw too deep into your guitar and I don't know if you want that.

Your first time using them with your strap... make SURE that they *click* locked into place, or else they can pop off until your strap gets used to the new pegs and strap locks. No longer will you have to rely solely on luck alone to keep your axe on tight!!

The seller Musician's Friend was a very fast shipper. It shipped the day-of and I got it by the weekend to jam!!

I was recommended to them by a pianist buddy of mine that got some gear off of them recently. Good stuff!!

It was a great price and even with internet sales tax, it was cheaper than getting it at Guitar Center and I didn't have to park or wait in any lines.

THANKS GUYS!!

Product Description

The Classic Celluloid Pick for Your Guitar

You cannot go wrong with the classics. In this case, we are talking about the Fender 351 Premium Celluloid Guitar Pick. Classic shape, medium weight, Fender Premium Celluloid picks combine the traditional tone and feel of celluloid, with beautiful and unique colors. Celluloid is one of the best pick materials. Ever. It gives you traditional feel, a smooth striking surface and a warm tone.

Classic sound with a wider body and a rounded tip.

Fender Premium Celluloid picks combine the traditional tone and feel of celluloid, with beautiful and unique colors. Often called the Fender pick, the 351 shape is the pick most associated with Fender company and guitar. A wider body and a rounded tip have made this pick a favorite with players of every style.

Why a Medium Guitar Pick?
A medium guitar pick is 0.73–0.81 mm or 0.028–0.031 inches thick. When playing rock or heavier music, or while playing electric guitar with hi-gain amplification or distortion, thinner picks produce muddier, less precise, less controlled sound while thicker picks produce more specific, more controlled and well-shaped tone. Thinner picks also tend to rip or tear more often if used too forcefully, whereas a thicker one is less likely to wear down. Thicker picks are generally used in more discrete genres, such as heavy metal or power metal.

Celluloid, Historically Speaking
Invented in 1856, celluloid is considered the first invented thermoplastic. This was the first plastic ever used to produce picks, and it is still used today, especially for guitarists aiming for vintage tone. Celluloid is easily molded and shaped, and it was first widely used as an ivory replacement. Easy to manufacture, easy to produce, celluloid is the favored pick of guitarists around the world.

About Fender
Founded in 1946, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation has been an American icon for over 50 years. In that time, Fender’s contribution to the evolving sound of contemporary music has been global and continuous. By introducing the first commercially viable solidbody electric guitar, the first electric bass and countless classic amplifiers, Fender musical instruments have left their mark on jazz, blues, country, rock and many other styles of popular music.

Fender 351 Premium Celluloid Guitar Picks, 12 Pack, Green Moto, Medium Review

Based on multiple reviews here about loose picks being "lost in transit", I ordered TWO packages of 12 guitar picks. At such a great price, I figured if I received only eight or ten I would be happy. Package came today... the picks are NOT loose in the box, but instead contained in a hinged plastic shell which snaps closed. I have all 24 (yay!). As some noted, I did NOT receive a variety of colors as shown above -- they were all the multicolor blue/green/brown abalone shell mixture which you see in the display picture right next to the red pick. This happened to be my favorite of the bunch, so not at all disappointed. Now, if they can just help this newbie with practice so that my playing improves quickly... but that's up to me!

Product Feature

  • Features both Distortion and Octave guitar effects in one shell!
  • Reminiscent of one unique sound of Mr. Jimi Hendrix, a pioneer of rock
  • Allows you to add both an octave up sound, as well as distortion tones
  • True Bypass wiring, quality internal components, ¼ inch jacks and connectors
  • Achieve the mind-altering sounds famous of analog-based Octave shift pedals

Product Description

The JF-12 Ultimate Octava pedal from JOYO audio gives the guitar player some really cool options to work with. The first of these is the standard Fuzz distortion, which adds tons of layers of harmonics, which remaining smooth enough to satisfy jazz and country players. The second is the out-of-this-world octave effect, which can be engaged independently of the distortion effect. This sound is really different, and it's perfect for cool sound effects or alien-sounding tones being blended in with the raw signal.

The other features of this pedal aid and abet when it comes to reserving a permanent place in the pedal chain. The mid cut allows you to scoop out some of the body, which works nicely when thrashing out some crunchy power chords, as does the tone knob, which will be the reins on your dark, nay, bright horse - the highest notes with the octave pedal ON - that sounds like tin cans falling from the sky and breaking into glass figurines on marble flooring. Best part is there's no clean up. The JF-12 allows rock, blues, jazz, funk, fusion and even country guitar players to access creative sounds from an affordable, spicy pedal!

Joyo JF-12 Ultimate Octava: Fuzz/Octave Pedal with Distortion and Octave guitar effects - Two in ONE - endless tone bending possibilities Review

For the price, this is an amazing pedal. The sound from a $40 pedal is outstanding, much better than I ever expected.

The Voodoo is a fuzz pedal, meant to give a sort of Jimi Hendrix sound. This pedal creates fuzz and can raise a note an octave. Alone it does a decent job of transforming my guitar into something like Hendrix. I was able to hold a note for two minutes with this box, the sustain is big. All was not completely perfect, it might be me and the way I'm adjusting this, but I had a bit of trouble with feedback.

From a sound standpoint, this is a great value and does a good job of fuzzing up my sound. Combined with Joyo's California, Hendrix is almost in the house. (Joyo JF-15 Guitar Effect Pedal California Sound True Bypass)

I have a Boss ME-70 multi-effect pedal. This Joyo single effect pedal blows away my Boss pedal, I'm almost sad to say that. I don't have experience with other single effect pedals, so I can't make a comparison to those more costly pedals.

I have a Marshall Amp and cabinet with 4 x 12 inch speakers. My guitar is a Gibson Les Paul 2008 Standard Plus.

From a construction standpoint, these are remarkable for the price point. The whole thing has a good weight. The base has a dense skid resistant foam rubber on it. The box is a solid cast metal box, with a very heavy metal base. The bypass and octave up switches are solid and bolted tightly to the box. The 1/4 inch input and output jacks are really sweet - there is a metal insert that screws into the plastic internal jack. It looks to me like it would be very hard to break this jack - that outer ring is heavy duty. The pots look really good. For this pedal, they went with press on knobs. If the knob ever breaks, they are a very easy replacement at Radio Shack. The only weak point is the somewhat thin Mid Cut toggle switch. Given that it is between three knobs, I think it would be hard to break this switch - but it is a little lighter weight than I would like.

The pedal comes with a 9 Volt battery. It also has a standard 9V power jack on the side, to use an AC adapter or large rechargeable battery pack.

This is not a high end pedal, at this price point, nobody should ever expect that. But darn it, this is one amazingly nice pedal when I consider price. Well worth the investment.

The GateShop provided me with a sample of this pedal for review.

Korg PX5D Pandora Guitar and Bass Multi Effects Processor Review

I've had the Pandora for two weeks now and I've used it extensively. So far, I am pleased that I bit the bullet and shelled out the money for this thing. It's loaded with all sorts of features, and most importantly, it prevents me from being turned off my instrument because of crappy sound (I am on vacation, about 7000 miles away from my beloved amps and mixers and doodads and geegaws).

But take note, if you are listening to this thing through mediocre headphones or earbuds, you will hear a very sub-par and overall tremendously frustrating sound. For example, my Sony earbuds that I would rate 8/10 for iPod listening makes the Pandora sound totally tinny- scoops out all the mids, boosts the uselessly high treble and muddies up the bass. You will sit there trying to dial in a usable tone cursing the paint off your walls.

On the other hand, I have a pair of Audio-Technica M50 studio monitor headphones (no product endorsement, just saying what works for me) that sounds fantastic with the Pandora. So I guess the moral of my story is to pair this headphone amp with headphones that have a flat EQ response.

Because the Pandora is marketed as a headphone amp doesn't mean you are confined to headphones. I plugged the Pandora into a cheap bass amp and my guitar actually sounded pretty good! I can't wait to plug it into a good sound system and let it scream. From what I've heard, people have had a lot of success with going direct into PA or going through guitar or bass amps.

As far as the effects go, they gave me pretty much all I need and much much more. I am overall impressed with the built in reverb and delay effects, and the distortion sounds very good also. Some of the effects work in stereo so you can get that left to right rotary speaker effect. On top of the effects that I use all the time (reverb, distortion, compression, etc.) there are some WACKY stuff in here that I really haven't been able to use except for a few laughs. The intelligent harmonizer holds some potential although the tracking has a tiny, barely noticeable but noticeable hesitation. But since I'm greedy and I like having the option of oodles of stuff even though I might not use them, I would rate the effects on the Pandora 9/10 (where 10 is reserved for OMG EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD)

Korg put a lot of amp/cab/effect combo presets onto the Pandora, and when I started out, I used "Linkin" for my distortion, "Pop" for clean chorusy stuff and "Fab4" for clean tones. I ended up being 10% dissatisfied with them, so I just made my own presets and now I am 99% satisfied. The tweaks weren't big, like dialing down the distortion and adding a touch of reverb to "Linkin" preset and killing the teeny OD on "Fab4" etc. Much like the effects, some of the presets are wacked out. There is a preset on there called "Ill" and I can't for the life of me figure out how to use it in a musical way. Another preset called "Fire" has a really cool fuzzed out sound for single note melodies but goes haywire when you start playing harmonies. It might work really nicely for Muse basslines and such.

One thing I like about this is the AUX input and how it can transcribe recordings to your desire. It has made learning new songs for vocals and guitar much more convenient. The bass canceler function seems to work pretty well, and I imagine it would come in really handy, although I am separated from my bass right now. Korg included a lot of drum loops and an option to add basslines to those drum loops for jamming and practice purposes, but I wouldn't build my career on those drum/bass loops... they can sound kinda cheesy.

The construction of the Pandora looks very solid. I was worried at first that the Pandora would be built like the Korg tuners, which are light plastic without much heft, but I was happy to find that the Pandora feels really rugged. The instruction manual is comprehensive and is multilingual (if you ever get the urge to learn how to talk about flangers in German or something...)! I've been using batteries to power mine since I didn't get a wall adapter, and I burned through a pair of AAs in a week and a half of thorough use.

Other than that, the thing comes with a mini version of Ableton Live, the adapter cable for the footswitches (not included, planning on getting one myself) and the USB cable. Korg even included little rubber pads so the little rectangle doesn't get pulled off the table.

Overall, very happy with the product. Cheers, Korg!

For people who don't want to read all of my drivel,

Pros:
Great sound with good listening devices
Lots of useful effects
Lots of useful amp and cabinet models
Good presets
Very utilitarian (backlight option for the screen, etc.)
Solid construction

Neutral:
Some effects and presets I would never use
Doesn't come with wall adapter
Small learning curve in navigating through the menu

Cons:
Adjusting volume balance between aux and input is finicky.
