Sunbeam phosphor bronze strings are handwound upon round cores which give a terrific result...wonderful sustain...remarkable sustain. The tone does not seem to decay as do other phosphor bronze strings, which we think of as decaying in a curve. The Sunbeam phosphor seem to sustain in a straight line, until the sound "falls off". The Sunbeam phosphor are also musically bright, and rich sounding. Additionally they are very flexible...more so than any other string we have played.

Basics: these strings were very bright when I first put them on. And the brightness did diminish within a few days. They have a unique tone which may or may not work for your guitar and/or style of music.

The interesting part: for whatever reason, these strings are much "softer" and easier to play, both for the left and right hands [if anyone knows why, feel free to enlighten me]. I used to use the standard (green package) DR acoustic guitar strings of the same gauge. The first time I played on these I was playing more smoothly, faster, and with greater ease. I was caught off guard, and I didn't realize that it was the strings. For years I thought I needed some special exercise to improve my right hand technique (and I tried many!); I struggled to execute certain lines or patterns at high speeds; my upstrokes when crossing strings on the inside or sweeping upward were weak; etc. But I no longer have these problems with these strings. The first few days I played on them, I was amazed. I'm now switching over to these.
